Full Biography

Antonella Di Giulio is a pianist, music theorist, pedagogue, author, speaker, and entrepreneur.

In addition to her doctoral studies in Music Theory and Musicology at the University at Buffalo, she holds a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from the same university, post-diploma certifications in piano performance, and a diploma in piano from the Conservatory Santa Cecilia in Rome (Italy). As a researcher, her interests include music cognition, the theory of images in music, music as a language, harmonic language in contemporary music, Italian composers of the 20th century, set theory, and mathematics.

She studied piano with Luigi Mostacci and Carla Giudici at the Accademia Pucciniana, thanks to a European Union fellowship, and later in Germany with Sontraud Speidel in Karlsruhe, and Michael Rische at the Musikhochschule Aachen-Köln. She further studied under the tutelage of Professor Lola Tavor in Milan and Geneva. She has won awards in numerous national and international competitions. The German newspaper Rheinische Post described her performances as impressing “…mit ihrer kompetenten Virtuosität, ihrer breit gespannten Expressivität wie ihrer enormen Klangsensibilität…” (with her competent virtuosity, broad expressivity, and enormous sound sensibility).

Her additional studies include pedagogy, teaching certifications, courses in music management, and workshops on group piano lessons. Antonella was a music teacher trainer for the Bertelsmann Foundation’s “Kita macht Musik” project and has extensively trained in the Suzuki Method and Children Music Lab. She has authored a music workbook for preschool children, a music theory workbook, and served as editor for various professional and academic magazines and journals.

She regularly performs for numerous associations and festivals as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles, with a particular interest in Italian composers (e.g., RAI – Italian Television, International Festival Anzio – Petrassi, Messiaen, Kawai Europa – Krefeld, RWN – Krefeld, A.Gi.Mus. Roma, “Circolo Sottoufficiali” Bologna, Marigliano, Klavierwochen Waldkraiburg, Ass. “Il Coretto” Bari, Monopoli, Festival Ostra, Weyden, Bayreuth, Plauen, Geldern, Mitrovica, Dortmund, Sonsbeck, Windhagen, Kalkar, Bremen, Florence, Leipzig, etc.).

Antonella has been acclaimed for her exciting and sovereign pianism and her attention to sound quality, earning particular praise for her outstanding pedagogical engagement. She teaches piano, early childhood music education, and general music education, and she has served as Artistic Director of numerous workshops and festivals. She also served as President of the Chromatic Club of Buffalo, the oldest association for classical musicians in Western New York, where she was on the board of directors for several years.

She has been on the faculty of the Accademia Pucciniana in Isernia, Kreismusikschule Kleve e.V., Buffalo Suzuki Strings, and Buffalo State College. Antonella is frequently invited as a guest teacher, speaker, and pianist for lectures, summer camps, and seminars. She is the founder and artistic director of Woom Management Inc. and the Woom Talent Center.

Antonella regularly collaborates with the classical music platform Tonebase, offering community workshops and lectures. She is also the founder and content creator of the YouTube channel Webpiano Academy and the music platform Musica IQ, a blog and magazine for music professionals.
